Swedish\Relaxation
This is the most common type of massage. The Swedish techniques create an overall stress-reducing and tension-relieving atmosphere. Specific strokes are used which include effleurage (long and soothing) and petrisage (kneading). They combine to draw tension and stress from muscles and push it towards the heart where it can be eliminated via the blood.

Deep Tissue\Sports
This type of massage focuses more specifically on certain muscle groups. The techniques are a lot deeper in nature and may not be for everybody. Deep compression and friction are used to flush out the toxins within the muscle fibers. Stretching and trigger point work is involved which helps aid in toxin flushing. Many different reactions may occur following a deep tissue massage. Some of which may include muscle soreness and possible bruising. These reactions can be diminished by communicating your pressure tolerance with the therapist and by drinking lots of water the day of and after your massage.

Connective Tissue
The techniques involved with this massage are sometimes referred to as myofascial release. These techniques are closely correlated with deep tissue massage. This type of massage can be uncomfortable as it provides a gentle, sustained pull on the fascial component of muscle.

Fibromyalgia
This type of massage is geared specifically to those who suffer from fibromyalgia. This is an extremely gentle type of massage. Techniques such as rocking, stretching and brisk rubbing are used. Body mapping is used to find each individuals specific hot spots and positional compression is used to release the pressure felt in those areas. This massage creates some relief of pain for those who suffer from fibromyalgia.

Reflexology
Reflexology is a whole body treatment that is performed only on the feet, and sometimes the hands. This type of treatment can take between 30 and 60 minutes, and should not be confused with a foot massage.

Chair Massage
Chair massage is a great introduction to massage for many people. It can be done anywhere and doesn't require the client to disrobe. A chair massage can last any amount of time and is great for people who don't know what to expect during a massage.
